Celebrate World Breastfeeding Week Aug. 2 at CHP Family Services

Jul 23, 2018 | News

CHP Family Services and South Berkshire WIC will host a celebration of World Breastfeeding Week on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 10-noon.

Breastfeeding women, expectant mothers and their children are invited to the free event, from 10 a.m.-noon, at CHP Family Services, 442 Stockbridge Road.

Guests will meet other nursing mothers and learn about the many health benefits of breastfeeding. They will also learn more about CHP Family Services’ breastfeeding resources, support and counseling options. CHP Family Services also maintains a library of breastfeeding information and has a breastfeeding counselor on staff. Refreshments will be served and there will be activities for the children.

Decades of research and studies have concluded that breast milk is the heathiest nutrition for newborns. Breast milk is recommended by the World Health Organization and the American Academy of Pediatrics as the sole source of nutrition for babies through six months of age.

All Berkshire and area women are invited to attend and are asked to RSVP with an email to wic@chpberkshires.org, or by calling (413) 528-0457.
